Workshops

Our next workshop in the series will be "Steps 10 & 11," Saturday, January 14th, from 9:00 a.m., to 1:00 p.m., in Art Room 1, of Plummer Park, 7377 Santa Monica Blvd., in West Hollywood. This continuing series of workshops is to help retain those new to the Fellowship of SCA, and help other members to move forward in staying sexually sober, through working the Twelve Steps of SCA. The workshops are also for those seeking a breakthrough in their recovery from compulsive sexual behavior. We ask a donation of $10.00, to pay for the workshop materials. None are turned away for lack of funds. Please bring your AA Big Book, AA Twelve & Twelve, a large Spiral bound notebook, a pen or pencil.

Step 10 - Continued to Take Personal Inventory...
“As we work the first nine Steps, we prepare ouselves for the adventure of a new life. But when we approach Step Ten we commence to put our SCA way of living to practical use, day by day, in fair weather and foul. Then comes the acid test: can we stay sexually sober, keep in emotional balance, and live to good purpose under all conditions?”

Step 11 - Sought Through Prayer & Meditation...
“Prayer and meditation are our principal means of conscious contact with God.

“We SCA’s are active folk, enjoying the satisfactions of dealing with the realities of life, usually for the first time in our lives, and strenuously trying to help the next sexual compulsive who comes along. So it isn’t surprising that we often tend to slight serious meditation and prayer as something not really necessary. To be sure, we feel it is something that might help us to meet an occasional emergency, but at first, many of us are apt to regard it as a somewhat mysterious skill of clergymen, from which we may hope to get a secondhand benefit. Or perhaps we don’t believe in these things at all.”

So far, we have had workshops on Steps One, Two and Three, Four and Five, Six and Seven, Eight and Nine, as well as on Sponsorship, and Stepping Through the Holidays. Please join us as we work on "Steps Ten and Eleven," January 14th, 2012, a Saturday. The workshop after this is tentatively planned for March 2012, after the February 2012 SCA Los Angeles convention. Be sure to attend the SCA Los Angeles Convention, and workshops there.
